In a perfect world...when you have 20+ people coming for an outdoor party in June it should not be cold/rainy
In a perfect world...when you invite people over for turkey, the turkey is cooked all the way through at serving time
In a perfect world...when you offer up your bathtubs to clean up the filthy kids, you at least have hot water!
Alas, we found out Saturday that we do not live in a perfect world. We do, however, live in a fun world and a world where friends/family are pretty forgiving when things don't go as planned! Even thought it wasn't picture perfect, the kids sure had fun!
Here are a few pics of the evening:
Our first attempt at "trash can turkey". John clearing out the pit:
Cover the bricks with foil. add beer can holder and beer:
add turkey
Cover with trash can:
Light 'er up!
4-wheeler rides while we wait
and horsey rides while we wait!
hmm....looks like rain
Time to uncover the turkey
not bad!
Looking good!
(unfortunately, it was pretty under-done. we should have left it in an hour longer. oh well. lesson learned)
Chillaxin' over some food
Kids enjoying the swingset
(I should say "girls enjoying the swingset" since at this point they were chanting
"NO BOYS ALLOWED, NO BOYS ALLOWED")

(Jack just laughed at those silly girls & their chant!)
The turkey experiment looks really cool, I hope you try it again sometime. And the playground... awesome. Every kids dream come true!
